Our Introduction to Digital Literacy short course is aimed at two primary cohorts of students:

  1. Students with an intellectual disability
  2. New migrants with low-level language and numeracy skills

The course covers entry-level understanding and concepts around the English language, words, phrases and complete sentences. Looking at numbers, the course covers single digits and counting in tens to using numbers to understand currency and using money.

Your training will focus on:

  • Identifying and engaging with short, simple texts (reading and writing)
  • Building confidence to read familiar, everyday texts and speak using familiar, everyday words and sentences
  • Counting in tens and solving basic addition and subtracting problems
  • Understanding Australian currency and using money in everyday situations

This is a Government-funded short course that can open up new employment opportunities and pathway into an accredited course across various vocational areas.

  • Part-time: 50 hours

No formal assessment is required in this course. There will be learning activities to demonstrate knowledge and understanding.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

All students will engage in a language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy (LLND) activity to evaluate potential support requirements.

No Units of Competence are contained within this short course.

This course is fully funded by the Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board.

I have recently completed my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care through AST under the guidance of Carley who has been absolutely incredible as a trainer.
